Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office

The Tarrant County Commissioners Court retained Broaddus & Associates to serve as their program manager for the $27 million expansion and renovation of the Medical Examiner’s Office in Ft. Worth, Texas. The new addition and renovation offers expansive, state of the art facilities to serve Tarrant, Parker, Denton, and Johnson county, who have a combined population exceeding 2 million.

The 61,095-SF facility houses numerous departments including latent prints, trace analysis, forensic biology, forensic death investigations, forensic photography/digital evidence, histology, human identification, odontology, Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), morgue/autopsy, vehicle processing, breath alcohol, drug chemistry, and firearms/toolmarks, as well as administration, training, and support areas.

The expansion included two completely finished stories and a third level shelled for future expansion. The renovation included ADA upgrades, lobby expansion, and expansion of MEP systems, to name a few. This expansion meets the County’s substantial growth needs on a challenging and restricted site. Broaddus & Associates also managed the sustainability requirements for the project, which achieved a LEED® Gold Certification.
