Sul Ross State University - Student Housing Complex

Broaddus & Associates was engaged by the Texas State University System to review the construction of the Student Housing Complex at the Sul Ross State University campus in Alpine, TX. The $21M project consisted of a new 150,000-SF student residence hall to meet the growing housing demand for the school. The schedule for the project was particularly important, since the facility had to be completed over the summer months in order to be ready for students in the fall semester.

After evaluating the significant delays that had occurred on the project, our firm was assigned as the project manager to complete the facility. Broaddus & Associates deployed a full time, on-site project manager to the rural West Texas campus within days to immediately begin the changes needed to meet the deadlines.

Our firm assisted the university in assessing quality control issues, manpower requirements, and scheduling challenges. Ultimately, the 625-bed complex was completed prior to the fall 2006 semester and was able to accommodate the incoming student body. As a part of the scheduling adjustments, work continued into the semester on non-essential improvements, after Sul Ross State University’s critical housing needs for had been met.
