South Texas College 2013 Construction Bond Program

Broaddus & Associates has been selected by South Texas College (STC) to provide Construction Program Management Services on their 2013 Bond Construction Program. South Texas College was created in 1993 to serve the populations of Hidalgo and Starr Counties. To address the rapid population growth in this region, local voters approved $159 million in bonds to fund the construction, operation and maintenance of new facilities in November of 2013. The Bond Construction Program includes:

  • New buildings to be constructed at each of seven campuses/centers
  • Expansion and/or renovation of existing buildings
  • Additional parking and site improvements
  • Addition and/or expansion of 3 Physical Plants
  • Facility Space programming for all functions in each building
  • Program phases and master schedule for design and construction
  • Design standards and guidelines

Broaddus & Associates is assisting STC through all phases of the Bond Construction Program with management of the overall administrative, design and construction work required. This includes reporting on all phases related to the construction program in order to successfully complete the design and construction requirements; coordinating with all design professionals to convey STC’s master plan, design standards and guidelines in order to produce accurate construction documents; and coordinating with all contractors for compliance with the construction documents to achieve a consistent level of quality for all construction projects in accordance with the Facilities Master Plan, the budget and the schedule.

This engagement represents a continued relationship between South Texas College and Broaddus & Associates. The firm served as Program Manager for the College’s $98.7 million 2001 Bond Program, which included facility construction and renovation across five campuses.
