First Responder Facilities
City of Buda | Public Safety Complex
In 2014, City of Buda passed a bond program that included a new Municipal Building and Public Safety Building. Broaddus & Associates was retained by the City of Buda when they terminated their contract with the previous project management firm after the expectations of budget and schedule were not met. We quickly assembled our team to analyze the status of the program and developed a work implementation plan that included review of the preliminary guaranteed maximum price proposal prepared by the contractor, review of the proposed construction schedule, and a constructability and value engineering analysis.
The $55M Bond Program included the following relevant projects: The Municipal Building which houses the new City Hall, Public Library, and the Buda Economic Development Corporation. In addition, the Public Safety Building is a new 12,420-sf building that houses the Buda Police Department. In addition, the building also houses a community meeting room for public meetings and interdepartmental training. The city and police department staff were involved in every step of the planning and design process, helping to tailor the architectural design to fit the multitude of specific needs of the Department and creating a space with which it will serve its citizens. Ultimately, our firm assisted Buda in completing the projects on schedule while controlling a budget that had increased before we were engaged.
