Alamo Colleges | First Responders Academy

Broaddus & Associates served as program manager for the overall master plan, as well as for the first phase of development on the First Responders Academy to train local police, EMS, and firefighters. A unique aspect of this facility was a $1.3M grant from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to assist with the funding for the site. The project is located on a 60-acre tract on IH-35 South in Atascosa, TX.

The project’s first phase included 25- and 50-yard pistol ranges, 200-yard rifle range with sniper tower, and a shotgun and full tactical shooting area. Facilities construction included eight modular buildings for classrooms and offices, a Class A 3-story burn building for firefighter training, and a restroom/shower building. The site was supported by infrastructure including utilities, roadways, and parking lots. The facility provides vital training to local, state, and federal first responders and law enforcement personnel.
