Access Family Health Services

Broaddus & Associates served as project manager for construction of the Access Family Health Services facility in Smithville, Mississippi.  The previous location for the medical care center was destroyed in a 2011 tornado that hit the town, causing substantial damage and claiming 16 lives.  The facility is more than 12,000 square feet and is housed on donated land.   It has nine exam rooms, a trauma treatment room with an ambulance entrance, an x-ray unit and internal pharmacy.  It also includes a safe room as a precaution for future storms.

The project was funded in part by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration.  The facility also serves as the local VA clinic, providing health care to military veterans without requiring them drive to distant cities for treatment.   Broaddus & Associates coordinated funding and approval processes from sources, while managing the design and construction of the new facility.  This included selection of the architect and contractor, while managing the project for overall quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.  The facility was dedicated during ceremonies on July 1, 2014, after being completed on schedule and under budget.
