Broaddus Companies work to help support the Bastrop Boys & Girls Club
Jul 29, 2016
With the assistance of the Broaddus Companies, the Boys & Girls Club of Austin has taken the lead in re-establishing its chapter in Bastrop County.
After multiple area wildfires and floods swept through Bastrop over the past 5 years, the local chapter was left without a facility.  To provide a temporary space for the local kids' programs, the Shulman family generously donated space inside their Lost Pines 8 Theater.  Broaddus & Associates was brought on to coordinate the renovation of the old arcade area within the theater.  Additionally, FJW Construction managed the construction work, which also included new concrete paving and handicap ramps to accommodate the club's activities.
Dr. James A. Broaddus has served on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area in many capacities over the past several years.  "I am honored to serve the club that gives hope and promise to young people who might not have the opportunities many of us had when we were growing up," said Dr. Broaddus.
The Boys & Girls Club Bastrop County Chapter space opened on June 13th, 2016.  While it is an interim location, it provides a much needed home to the club as they continue their important mission of providing local children a safe place to learn and grow with focused programs on academic success, healthy lifestyle choices and leadership.
