On June 17th, Broaddus & Associates joined more than 200 people in in El Paso, Texas, to celebrate the opening of the Cardwell Collaborative Building, the flagship facility in the MCA Tech Park, Inc. (a subsidiary of the Medical Center of the Americas (MCA) Foundation). The $29 million, 60,000 square-foot biomedical research and technology center is located on MCA's 440 acre campus, and houses biomedical research labs and incubators along with offices for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and MCA. The facility, which was constructed in 16 months, will initially be home to six biomedical startup companies in support of its mission.
The Broaddus Companies initially served the project planner for the building before being engaged as the project manager throughout construction. The building opening represents a major milestone of progress for the healthcare and life sciences industry in the communities of El Paso, Las Cruces and Juarez. By encouraging new medical innovations and startup companies, the new campus is designed to increase employment opportunities and advanced medical research in the area.
